Appointments and Transitions

CHATTANOOGA

  1. Willis Dietz—named director emeritus at Northwest Georgia Bank after serving 35 years on the bank's board. Anne Wilkins, a CPA who teaches at UT-Chattanooga, joined the board along with Terry Lamb of Raymond James & Associates.
  2. J.R. Fitch—promoted to branch manager of A.G. Edwards' & Sons in Dalton.
  3. Woody McGee—appointed as interim president and CEO of concrete, furnishing and industrial fabrics maker Propex, which recently filed for bankruptcy. McGee is a senior executive consultant at Cerberus Capital Management.
  4. Tom McNeill Jr.—tapped as mortgage banker at FirstBank's Chattanooga operation, prior to which he worked for Deutsche Bank and Countrywide Home Loans.
  5. Gary Mayfield—became chairman and CEO of Kenco Logistic Services as a result of corporate restructuring. Andy Smith is president and COO. Bill Mitchell was promoted to VP of Kenco Transportation. Jim Kennedy III took on the role of chairman and CEO of JDK Real Estate, where Jimmy Glascock is president.
  6. Jennifer Nicely—named chief development officer at Memorial Health Care System, arriving from Siskin Children's Institute where she was development director.
  7. Lori Payne—joined Morgan Keegan Trust as institutional relationship manager, overseeing accounts of Chattanooga area charities, companies, foundations and endowments.

KNOXVILLE

  1. Randall Curnow Jr.—became medical director at Summit Medical Group.
  2. Pamela Damewood—joined SmartBank of Pigeon Forge as assistant VP, branch administrator and sales manager in Sevierville.
  3. Tre Hargett—joined the Tennessee Regulatory Authority as a full-time director. The Oak Ridge resident was a Rural/Metro VP for the southern region. He's filling in for Pat Miller, who departed last year for Gov. Phil Bredesen's cabinet as director of legislative affairs and senior adviser.
  4. Joseph Hebert—joined Pro2Serve Professional Project Services as VP of physical security programs and manager in the Washington, D.C., office.
  5. Tim Matthews—named new president and CEO of Jewelry Television, replacing co-founders Bob Hall and Bill Kouns who are now CEO and president of the network's parent company Multimedia Commerce Group.
  6. Peter Moore—promoted to VP of special projects at home improvement channel DIY Network. Brandii Toby-Leon became director of press and public relations.
  7. Mary Ellen Miller—left Marquee Publications as executive editor to direct marketing efforts at n-tara interactive.
  8. Paul White—named CEO and board member at Goody's Family Clothing.
  9. Mark Wildenhaus—joined Johnson City public relations firm Creative Energy Group as executive creative director.

MEMPHIS

  1. John Carson Jr.—named CEO of Memphis-based Morgan Keegan & Co., replacing Doug Edwards, who retired after 30 years with the firm. R. Patrick Kruczek became president and COO.
  2. Brad Baucom—retired as COO of Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, where he oversaw construction of the new patient tower and several other initiatives since joining the organization in 1994.
  3. Fred T. Grant—named executive VP and CFO at restaurant operator Perkins & Marie Callender's, replacing James Stryker who resigned.
  4. Frank Fenton—left backpack maker JanSport, where he was VP of sales for seven years, to become president of ful, a Memphis-based active lifestyle division of JALP.
  5. David Kustoff—resigned in March as West Tennessee's top federal prosecutor to rejoin his prior law practice, Kustoff & Strickland. During his two-year tenure as U.S. Attorney he oversaw high-profile FBI's public corruption investigations Tennessee Waltz and Mainstreet Sweeper, among others.
  6. Nick Newman—named VP of construction and maintenance at utility MLGW.
  7. Ken May—resigned as president and CEO of FedEx Kinko's after two years on the job. He is replaced by Brian Philips as acting CEO.
  8. Charlie Tuggle Jr.—promoted to executive VP and general counsel of First Horizon National Corp. Marion McDougall became executive VP of enterprise operations and technology. Kim Cherry is now senior VP of corporate communications.

NASHVILLE

  1. Father Bashir Abdelsamad—joined the pastoral care department of Saint Thomas Hospital. The Sudanese priest will conduct the daily mass at the facility.
  2. Jimmy Bedford—retired as sixth master distiller at the Jack Daniel Distillery after 20 years on the job. He joined the Lynchburg operation in 1968.
  3. Darek Bell—elected to the board of the Tennessee Infrastructure Alliance. He is VP and partner at Bell and Associates Construction.
  4. Holly Bell—named regional director of private banking at Wachovia Wealth Management.
  5. Marty Dickens—named chairman of Harpeth Companies. The former regional president of BellSouth was previously on Harpeth's advisory board.
  6. Bill Frist—took charge of the Nashville market for Chicago-based private equity firm Cressey & Co.
  7. Mark McNabb—quit, citing personal reasons, as senior VP of sales and marketing at Nissan's U.S. operations, less than a year since he took the job. He is replaced by Brian Carolin, who was VP of sales and marketing at Nissan Europe.
  8. Nicholas Zeppos—unanimously named by the Vanderbilt University Board of Trust as the eighth chancellor, following the departure of Gordon Gee last August.
  9. Tim Williams—joined F&M Bank of Clarksville to run mortgage operations. He was mortgage banking lender at Wachovia in St. Louis.
