Appointments and Transitions

CHATTANOOGA
  1. John Ainsworth—named president of Transcard, a Chattanooga-based provider of electronic funds transfers. He was senior business leader at MasterCard Worldwide.
  2. Laura Batchelor—named director of conference services at the Chattanoogan hotel.
  3. Stephanie Crowe—became executive VP and director of wealth services at CapitalMark Bank & Trust.
  4. Ruth Brinkley—left Memorial Health Care System, where she was president and CEO, to become CEO of Carondelet Health Network in Arizona. She joined Memorial in 2002, spearheading its multi-million dollar expansion project. Deb Moore was named interim CEO.
  5. Terry Hart—tapped to oversee general operations at the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport Authority. He was VP of American Eagle Airlines in Chicago.
  6. Aaron Love—joined Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel’s general litigation division.
  7. Kathy Owen—promoted to information chief from senior VP of information technology business applications at employee benefits provider Unum’s US division.
  8. Patti Steele—joined the Community Bankers Council of the American Bankers Association. She is president and CEO of First Volunteer Bank.
KNOXVILLE
  1. Michael Castle—appointed senior VP and CFO of National Coal Corp., replacing Mike Love, who departed to pursue other opportunities.
  2. Walter Lee Davis—elected president of the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils at its annual conference held in New Orleans, La. The Johnson City attorney is also a licensed real estate broker.
  3. Bill Farthing—joined the Mountain States Foundation as director of major gifts and planned giving. He was executive director of the Cannon Sloop Healthcare Foundation at Charles A. Cannon Jr. Memorial Hospital in Linville, N.C.
  4. Morris Kizer—stepped down as Knoxville’s law director to return to private practice at Gentry, Tipton & McLemore.
  5. Way Kuo—left UT-Knoxville as engineering dean to become president of 25,000-student City University of Hong Kong.
  6. Carolyn Pointer—promoted to president and CEO of nursing home operator Hillcrest HealthCare, replacing Teri Webster.
  7. Stephanie Thompson—replaced retiring Mike Dalton as Maryville’s director of schools.
  8. Randy Trusley—retired as TVA’s chief accounting officer. He is credited with helping the organization comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
  9. Andrea White—named president of The Stokely Co.
MEMPHIS
  1. Chip Coughlin—elected president of the Jackson Hotel and Lodging Association. He is general manager of the Old English Inn.
  2. Andy Dolich—resigned as president of business operations of the Memphis Grizzlies after seven years on the job. Dolich later accepted a position with the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers.
  3. Charles Gulotta—traveled across the river to become chief of the Memphis and Shelby County Office of Economic Development. Gulotta was running economic development in Corinth, Miss.
  4. Steve Martin—promoted to Service Master Senior VP and CFO from its subsidiary TruGreen, where he was CFO. Prior to joining the company in 2000, he was at Promus Hotel Corp. and a partner in Arthur Andersen’s Audit and Business Advisory Services in Memphis.
  5. Keith McDonald—reappointed chair of the First Tier Suburbs Council of the National League of Cities for 2008. The Bartlett mayor will work alongside the mayors of Mission, Kan., and Evanston, Ill.
  6. Wes Meador—tapped as senior media strategist by marketing firm Chandler Ehrlich. Andi Crawford became senior art director.
  7. Allen Morgan—founder/chairman of Memphis-based Morgan Keegan & Co., retired at 65 having built the management firm—sold to Regions in 2001—to 400 offices in 19 states.
  8. Jim Vandersteeg—plucked from CEO post of Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis to lead Covenant Health’s five Knoxville hospitals.
NASHVILLE
  1. John Cerasuolo—joined ADS Security as president and COO, replacing Mel Mahler, who became board chairman in addition to CEO.
  2. Vivek Chandra—hired by Adams and Reese in its health care practice, while David Callahan III was added to the transactions and corporate advisory group.
  3. Tim DuBois—joined the ranks of the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management as clinical professor of management, helping the school develop entertainment industry curriculum. He is former senior partner at Universal South and president of Arista Records-Nashville.
  4. Tom Jurkovich—joined law firm Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis after a successful tenure under former Nashville Mayor Bill Purcell as director of the city’s economic and community development. Paul Ney was named Mayor Karl Dean’s economic development chief.
  5. Rick Murray—left the Country Music Association, where he was VP of strategic marketing, to launch Greylock Entertainment, which focuses on brand-equity expansion.
  6. Don Taylor—departed as executive VP of sales and marketing at Healthways after six years on the job. Mike King and Carol Murdock will fill in temporarily until a successor is found.
  7. Alisha Wyatt—joined King & Ballow’s litigation section. Mohammad Syed arrived from Washington, D.C., to augment the firm’s antitrust and litigation work. David Trainor, who joined the litigation practice, most recently was a captain in the Army Reserve JAG Corps., where he focused on prosecuting detainee-related matters.
